Hey all - very cool forum that you have here!

Is it that much of the design philosophy that I see here for designing a quality studio the same kind of ideas that one might use in constructing a sound-room? Not an A/V home theatre, but an old school, two-channel hi-fi listening space for audio geeks (like me)?

Appreciate your time,

Andrew D.

yes, a "control room" is a critical listening space - with the exception that people using it to mix or record may have a lot of "stuff" surrounding them so they get acclimatised to the effects. :-) a "mastering room" is also a critical listening space but attempts to mimic a living space with exceptional acoustics :-) purely residential listening rooms, depending on other uses, aesthetics (including SAF), and budget will dictate it's design.

so yes, many of the same principles and construction approaches will work for plain old listening spaces.
