Stuart's Rules for Soffits / Flush mounting speakers
the main issue isn't venting, and most times the passive air flow will suffice, it's the open port on the back of the speaker - being buried in the soffit, or plugged will change the overall speaker response - which may be better if plugged. another is remove the electronics and create a backing pan...

Mattress against the wall - MDAT attached
not sure what your level of acoustics treatment is besides the mattress, but if temporary, then more wall and ceiling mounted absorbers which are little more than picture hooks or some small brackets to mount. overall the response is consistent across the spectrum so whatever the settings are they a...

Mattress against the wall - MDAT attached
a full size mattress which is filled (not simply springs) can absorb quite a lot of LF energy. overall - with the sub - the response is decent +/- 8db with 1/3 smoothing and if you don't have the first reflection points covered top and sides, then you'll want to add those. the desk (the 1.5ms reflec...

you should be ok from a sag perspective. the thinking should be the silencer assembly can be secured to the wall as part of the isolation boundary. where you might have it not in full contact would be either the ceiling or the wall, but not necessary both unless you already have that joined hard. me...

no worries. just a note from when i do designs, even with inside out ceiling, is take advantage of ledgers to conform the positioning of stuff i need to lock into place and want them installed as a single unit. using metal straps to secure them all around. then i typically add the large(r) soffits f...

along those lines: decouple pipes, wires, ducts, etc. electrical - use bends and loops to avoid tight wire connections across isolation boundaries, use decoupled conduits when spanning isolation boundaries. use flex duct or duct decoupler to span isolation boundaries, vacuum up the crud from constru...

possibly late here - however - presuming you'll have a soffit around the ceiling for additional absorption, lighting, wiring trays or conduits, etc etc, using a ledger board under the edge of the assembly can assist in positioning and retaining. same way you'd do a cabinet where you ultimately will ...

CNR Studio Design – Basement, One-Room
one quick note: in drawing 8.4 1) i'd separate the 3x layers from the floor above from the exterior mass wall and simply seal that gap - just less things to transfer through the structure. 2) the additional single layer drywall on the sides of the joists aren't really needed, and if you find you hav...
