New Home Studio Build

Anyone’s opinions & expertise is welcome. I’m capable of building any of these different styles of diffuser panels to put over my bass traps. I’m just hoping to gain insight into which style would be best or does it matter.

Thanks All

Is there any difference in all these different kinds panels I attached in the pics or do they all including the slat style you attached accomplish the same thing? I definitely can construct the style in your pic. Do you recommend a curtain sequence of measurement pattern or just random?

Hi All, I did end up building a partial ceiling poly over 1/3 of ceiling beam in my live room and it solved the flutter echo problem in the center of room. Thank you Glenn for the advice and plans. I want to gain back some ambiance in my live/tracking room and think the best way is to cover some or ...

Hi Glenn,

Do you know what the measurement would be between the 2x4 edge clamps in this design of yours for my vaulted ceiling? I experimented and calculated that if I made them 46.5” apart it would be correct. Does that seem right for a 4’ wide piece of plywood?

I would think regular low to medium density insulation is what would be needed. Is this correct or should I use a rigid fiberglass stacked?

Thank you! That truly helps. I want the one with the least high end absorption so I’m gonna go with yours.

Your design provides scattering and absorbsion as well, what do you think would be the difference between the 2 variations?

6587 context for the fancy approach Hi Glenn, I’m thinking about building the Poly you designed. After speaking with a few other knowledgeable people it seems like a very good solution. What are your thoughts on doing slats like this attached picture? What differences do you think it would create? ...

6606 you could probably just use 1/4" -- not sure why i was thinking 3/4" After doing this treatment for the ridge do you think I could add more diffusion of some kind to the rest of the ceiling to help with flutter echo between the floor and ceiling and help sound in general? I don't rea...

Thank you very much Glenn!!! I apologize for not responding sooner. It’s been a crazy week. This is a lot of work but it makes sense and I’m capable of doing it. Could I use 3 pieces of 1/4” plywood that easily bends applying one at a time an stack them together instead of having to cut all those sl...

Thank you Glenn. The low end is completely under control in the room. There is this large bass trap with corner traps on the rear end of the room behind drums. The room sounds good but I feel like it could be even better but don't know what would help. A local acoustical designer suggested removing ...
