HVAC Silencer Design
Greetings Jag94, If you can re-orient your design so that the boxes are in the center of the wall (or if you can do what Stuart posted in that photo with the AC unit), you'll be able to treat the corners much more easily for LF, which in turn will make your isolation much better. Since this is a dru...

HVAC Silencer Design
Greetings Jag94, Ah yes, I see your predicament. I must have misunderstood that you needed a fully in-room unit. My apologies. One thing is certain: because your room is nearly square, you'll need to reserve the corners for substantive acoustic treatment. To that end, placement of your HRV(ERV) and ...

HVAC Silencer Design
Greetings Jag94, I will, of course, defer to the more experienced builders here (and to Stuart, of course), but here is my two cents: I too have started the research on HVAC for my upcoming build. If possible, I am going to use a ducted mini split (these are usually installed above the ceiling). Wit...

Greetings Starlight,
Not only have I seen them, but I replied to them. Ugh. Eldercare (for my father) is turning my brain into mush.
All the best,
Paul
Have you seen posts 39 and 42 in this topic?

Greetings Starlight, Very good progress indeed!!! Perhaps I missed your box design detail somewhere, but I really like using the wall/wall-ceiling-as-part-of-the-box idea. I can see where those nailers (what we in the US call those "shelves" you added) would be absolutely necessary. It see...

Beefing up door: Frame to Stud question
Greetings Jennifer,
Congratulations on the door project.
Are you going to attach a closer? (Or maybe you mentioned it somewhere and I missed it...)
All the best,
Paul

YMMV but I expect a (single) tube may not be enough.
Maybe it's a suggestion of how to keep projects on-budget...

Dry Cabinet
Greetings all, While I don't have a studio yet, I did just receive a new Ruggard dry cabinet. Between my microphones and my wife's video gear (for her online art classes), it was on our list of purchases. A major photo-video-audio retailer in New York had them on a great special last week, so we got...

Home Mix Room Overhaul - DIY Panel Build - w/ REW Charts/3D Sketchup
Greetings Trevor, Methinks you should also measure with the HVAC on. Since you need to keep your gear properly dehumidified/humidified (and breathing comfortably never hurt either), it seems like the right move. You're lucky you're not on a flight path. We live at the point where aircraft stall for ...

Greetings Trevor,
I believe you should be using C weighting (I think "slow" as well, but not sure).

Paul

Greetings Howiedrum, It might be possible that you need to set the OUTPUT (in System Preferences) to the Pyle, as you already have a USB audio connection via the card. Also, you might access the EQ available in Garageband. As you might know, you can control all I/O via that program. All the best, Paul

Sono Flex Duct: Snake Oil or the Real Deal?
Greetings Stuart, Thanks for the quick reply. "If it seems too good to be true..." As I noted in my post, if it worked as advertised, we'd all be making much smaller silencers. Thought experiment: if that Sonoflex number is supposed to be insertion loss, and you played bass heavy music fro...

Sono Flex Duct: Snake Oil or the Real Deal?
Greetings all, I ran across a product called Sono Flex duct. Is this a viable product for studio builds, if the general warnings about flex duct are adhered to (avoiding sharp turns, etc)? It seems that the biggest benefit would be smaller silencers, but I'm just guessing, of course. Looking forward...
