Inner layer of plasterboard completed for all six traps, all edges sealed. Next job is to paint the plasterboard.

Does anyone else experience shifts of perception doing these builds? Sometimes it feels like I am assembling toys. Other times I take a step back and realise the epic scale of the build. I hope the truth lies somewhat toward the latter

I don’t know about the toys analogy but I find I veer from ‘oh my god there’s so much to do’ to ‘yeah, making progress now!’

I made a tick list on my phone before I started. I assume you have similar. Some days I spend 8 hours at it and can’t even tick off one item!

The toy bit came come from photos of the build like this one where I think the magnitude doesn't come across as that much;

But walking past this row of traps makes you go "woah!". Lifting them even more so! An array of 60cm bass deep traps spanning 3.5m across. The faces of these things are big!

To go with what I thought looked like bass reflex bins these remind me of PA horns. I reckon you are building a seekrit in-wall PA system.

All the built in bass traps are finished (there's another on the floor). I painted the insides just in case these ever go from being bass traps to built in storage. It also let me practice skimming the screw heads, prepping and painting the plasterboard before doing this on more visible areas. Useful as I've never installed plasterboard before. They are upside down as it was easier to paint them this way!

A test attachment of a small trap to the wall structure. It's a bit like fitting a kitchen cabinet to an OSB wall, but in reverse.

It is extremely solid, hardly any movement possible at all when pushed / pulled firmly, even with just those two boards and screws only at the top and bottom of each side. I'll do a load test tomorrow.

I really enjoy your updates, Jennifer, they are a pleasure to see and read. And I am so used to seeing OSB, plasterboard and tools on the floor that I almost feel at home in your pictures.

Thanks chaps. I'm really enjoying this build by the way. I've finally got just the right amount of tools and props to do the job well, and it makes things so much simpler and quicker. Nothing fancy, just good basic stuff. The saw horses I got recently have been amazing, another thing I wish I'd known about years ago. I followed an online guide about using four 2x4 stud planks on them and it is such a good system. So easy to clamp the workpieces, easy to move out the way, and easy access to under the assembly if required. And I don't have to worry about marking the table or cutting in to the floor. All for about £50.

Now look what you made me do - I was looking to buy a laser level and somehow a pair of saw horses got added to the order. How did that happen?
