A picture is worth a thousand words. In this case 50 pictures! I will spread them out over the next few posts.
HOWIE-1 Sub Panel.jpg
Sub panel

2 Water_Sewage Ditch.jpg
Water/Sewage ditch. Took four days to go 100ft. by hand. Lots of rock underneath. Not sure why the plumber didn't get a ditch witch. Hit two irrigation pipes. Definitely the roughest part of the build for my wife during Covid.

5 Inner Leaf Ceiling Joists.jpg
Inner leaf oversized engineered ceiling joists. 24oc. Long story. Lost a few inches of height. Live and learn.

HOWIE-3 Electric Side of House.jpg
Outdoor Condenser and electric/propane lines

4 Wiring.jpg
Wiring studio. Three holes for electric and one for cable to be installed in future surface mounted raceways.

HOWIE-6 Wiring 2.jpg
Wiring close up. The outlet blue boxes are for my kitchenette. Another mistake. Added putty pads to them instead of removing...

HOWIE-7 Wiring 3.jpg
Wiring in ceiling for future track lights.

8 Insulation.jpg
Insulation arrived!

9 Inner Leaf Ceiling Scaffolding.jpg
Scaffolding for Ceiling insulation. My dog Daisy is making sure everything looks good.

10 Inner Leaf Ceiling top view.jpg
This is a view of the 18" gap between inner and middle leafs.

HOWIE-11 Inner Leaf Ceilng caulked .jpg
Silencer box sleeve. Close to joist but not touching!..

12 Inner leaf Ceiing drywall.jpg
Gap with 5/8 drywall and green glue over OSB. This was the hardest part for the builders. The fact that we had gorgeous sunny days didn't make them any happier.

HOWIE-13 Inner Leaf Ceiling Final Opening.jpg
Almost done. That final piece will be built on the ground and lifted/screwed into place...

Thanks Lucio! I have been watching yours too! So nice to have this forum to share with each other. Most people where I live think I am crazy.

Here are more photos.

14 Wall insulation.jpg
Inner leaf wall safe-n-sound insulation installed
15 Ceiling insulation 1.jpg
Ceiling first layer of insulation. Safe-n-sound. Nice product. Easy to work with. We had to strap it in. I will fill the gap with fiberglass insulation.
16 Ceiling insulation 2.jpg
Here is fiberglass insulation added in ceiling. Also strapped in.
17 Ceiling Insulatin 3.jpg
Jeff shown here installing the fiberglass with his mask on. This was just before we were all required to wear masks.
18 Wall drywall.jpg
3/4 OSB and 5/8 drywall being added. Hard to see but each stud was caulked before the OSB was attached. Green glue is behind each piece of drywall.
19 Window outside view.jpg
Exterior window. After mistakenly buying two interior commercial noise reduction windows I installed this exterior window and will add the interior windows next.
20 Window Inside view 1.jpg

Time for doors. Started on June 4th. I hired Tom, a recommended local carpenter. Up until then I was using the GC's builders. The GC gave me a credit for four pre-hung solid core doors and 4 hours labor. Tom was $35 less per hour than the others. He also read and studied all of my door plans I sent him from a variety of sources. The other builders would not have had the patience for that. We still need to install the door closers.

Two front doors and two sheets of 1" MDF. I guess when my camera orientation is vertical it uploads horizontally.

Tom sizing up the MDF. He ended up hanging the doors and then adding the MDF to the hung doors. It worked well and he was able to do it alone.

MDF added. We put some green glue between the layers in the field and some adhesive on edge where screws went in.

But how do you know that we don't think that, too?

A great set of photos, Howie.

Starlight!!! So great to hear from you. Man I got swamped with work at the university I teach at. Two new classes and I had to video everyone one of my lectures. Anyhow I just wrapped up my semester and I can finally get back to work on the studio. I will post more pictures to add to these from back in the Fall of 2020 soon. The construction part is done so I will be posting on the treatment section of Soundman2020.

Stuart, if you are out there, I hope all is well.

Howie

Hey there Howie! Things are looking up now, thanks! I've been off-line for way too long, and really wanting to get going again. Please do update your thread, showing where you are and letting us know what you might need help with, so we can get your place finished! :thu:

What a pleasant surprise to hear from you Stuart!

Ok I am going to post pictures of where I left off. My last photos were from June 4, 2020. I will now show you what I did since then. First more on the doors. I only did two layers for the doors. If I were to do it again I would probably do three.

More photos.

Door Front Outside View.jpg
Front Door. Still needs to be painted.

The following photo is of my front porch. It violates the setback and will have to be changed to a cantilever style, in order for my building to get permitted. I will loose 3'-7" of overhang. The builders used my fence line as the basis for determining where the building would be situated. Unfortunately part of my fence was beyond my property line. The contractor blamed the county and the county blamed the contractor. I have yet to do anything about it. I am leaning towards not changing it and having an unpermitted building. The contractor said he would do the labor for free, but that was over 6 months ago and he may be going out of business. I was just too busy to deal with this until now.

Blue Lighting.jpg
Blue Lighting. Using Feit Smart WiFi Color Changing Bulbs. I have access to all sorts of colors. Connects with my iphone. Works ok. It can take a while to get bulbs to change. But no buzzes and I can set a nice mood.

Jamming.jpg
All Vaccinated! First time playing with friends. 6/9/21.

Superchunk 1.jpg
Superchunk bottom corner bass trap. Used my leftover safe n Sound.

Superchunk 2.jpg
Superchunk top corner bass trap. Used R30 Attic insulation. The straps were inserted to help with any compression. Not pretty but should do the job.

Superchunks installed.jpg
Superchunks installed.

Superchunk top.jpg
Superchunk top eye hook. Attached white string from corner molding to the eye hook to keep it from falling in case we get an earthquake.

These last few pictures were from last week.
