The soffits are filled with wool but closed with 5/8 drywall to soundproof the air ducts.

Thanks! You're right, they're the video monitors. But they won't be placed as shown in the plan. Last year I did a simulation with my equipment and by placing the video monitors at the back of the desk, I can place the studio monitors even with the video monitors or slightly further forward.
